“As a Conservative, I believe that people should be free from the interference of Government in their lives because individuals are capable of making choices for themselves without having a public servant mothering them every day in life. I also believe in tough punishments for criminals, as innocent people should not have to live in fear of those who do not wish to obey the laws of society. I want to see the Armed Forces given the attention that they deserve: it is foolish to cut defence budgets on the basis that the country is safe today when none of us can know what the future will bring. I would like to see Westminster take back the powers it has handed over to Brussels since EU accession, in favour of an economic relationship with our European neighbours and a revived emphasis on trade and co-operation with our fellow Commonwealth nations. Most importantly, I believe in the Union. Being British means being both Scottish AND British at the same time; it really is the best of both worlds.”

“When I’m not studying (i.e. most of the time!) I enjoy hanging out with my friends, watching television, going to the pub, the usual student life!”
